Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Bookkeeper to join our team, ideal for a recent college graduate with a degree in business or accounting. The candidate should have a strong foundation in accounting principles, familiarity with QuickBooks desktop/online, and an interest in the construction or similar industry. This role is perfect for a proactive individual eager to grow their career in accounting, with a passion for numbers and supporting construction projects.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in maintaining and updating financial records using QuickBooks Desktop and Online, including data entry, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger.
  • Support reconciliation of bank statements and credit card accounts to ensure accuracy.
  • Help track project-related expenses to maintain budget integrity and cost control.
  • Assist in preparing financial reports, such as balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and job-specific cost reports.
  • Collaborate with project managers and team members to support project budgets and cash flow.
  • Aid in preparing and filing sales tax and other regulatory reports under supervision.
  • Support month-end and year-end closing procedures.
  • Communicate with vendors and clients to address invoice discrepancies, payment issues, and related inquiries.
  • Learn and assist with benefit deductions and payroll processes.
  • Other duties as needed.
Qualifications:
  • College degree in business, Accounting, Finance, or a related field (graduated within the last 1-2 years).
  • Familiarity with QuickBooks (through coursework, internships, or personal projects) and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
  • Basic understanding of accounting principles, including accounts payable/receivable, general ledger, and financial reporting.
  • Exposure to job costing or project accounting (through internships, academic projects, or coursework) is a plus.
Preferred Skills:
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and financial reporting.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills with a customer-service mindset.
  • Willingness to learn progress billing, change orders, and work-in-progress (WIP) reports.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment where priorities may shift quickly.
  • Eagerness to grow and take on increasing responsibilities in accounting and bookkeeping.
Nice-to-Have:
  • Internship or part-time experience in bookkeeping, accounting, or a related role, preferably in construction or a similar industry.
  • Familiarity with Netchex software or other payroll systems.
