Safety/IH Technician

Job Summary:
The Safety/IH Technician 3 will be responsible for the daily administration and implementation of the Health, Safety, and Industrial Hygiene programs that ensure compliance with statutory requirements and promote safe and healthy working conditions. Perform assignments of moderate complexity following the direction of the assigned Manager. Supports implementing established policies and procedures. Prepares reports, provides site inspections, supports established safety and IH programs, conducts exposure monitoring, and assists with employee training and orientation.

Duties & Essential Job Functions:
  1. Conduct field permitting (Hot Work, Confined Space, Excavation, etc.), site inspections, and safety audits.
  2. Ensure compliance with company and regulatory safety standards.
  3. Investigate accidents, incidents, and potential exposures; perform root cause analyses; implement and verify corrective actions.
  4. Support development and continuous improvement of site-specific EHS and IH programs, policies, and procedures (e.g., HAZOP/HAZID, JSAs, Rescue Plans).
  5. Perform atmospheric and exposure monitoring for chemical, physical, and biological hazards (e.g., dust, noise, vapors, gases). Maintain records, data logs, and sampling documentation; ensure results are communicated and corrective actions taken as needed.
  6. Lead safety/IH meetings and training sessions; develop materials and programs on topics such as hazard communication, respiratory protection, and hearing conservation.
  7. Provide guidance to operations and subcontractor personnel on EHS and IH matters.
  8. Prepare reports, maintain documentation, and support audits of the EHS management system.
  9. Promote a strong safety culture focused on proactive hazard identification, exposure prevention, and continuous performance improvement.

Qualifications:
Required:
  1. High School Diploma or GED.
  2. Minimum 3-5 years’ experience as a Safety Technician or Industrial Hygiene Technician.
  3. TWIC, ARSC Basic Safety.

Preferred:
  1. Valid state driver’s license.
  2. First-Aid/CPR, OSHA 10, 30.
  3. HAZWOPER 24, 40 / HAZMAT.
  4. CSST or equivalent certification.
  5. OSHA 500, 510 and / or 501, 511.
  6. Previous experience with IH sampling (chemical badges, air pumps, and noise dosimeters).
  7. Completed Fundamentals of Industrial Hygiene Course or comparable.
  8. Familiarity with OSHA, ACGIH, and NIOSH exposure limits and sampling methods.
  9. Bachelor’s degree in safety or related science
