Job Summary:
The Safety Technician provides essential support in the daily administration of the organization’s Health and Safety programs, ensuring adherence to all applicable regulatory requirements and the promotion of safe, healthy working conditions. Working under the direction of the assigned manager, this role carries out moderately complex tasks in alignment with established policies and procedures. Core functions include assisting with program operations, conducting site inspections, preparing required reports and documentation, supporting the implementation of existing safety initiatives, and contributing to employee training and orientation efforts.
Duties & Essential Job Functions:
- Conduct safety audits of all field personnel, PPE using Evonik Appendix A-CFSE, and validating permits: Hot Work, Permit Required Confined Space Entry, Excavation etc.
- Assist in field accident/incident investigation in conjunction with Evonik EHSS Mgr., Evonik Supervision, Maintenance Manager/Site Contractor Manager, Contractor Supervision or Contractor Safety.
- Generates accident/incident reporting, root cause analysis, corrective action plan for site requirements.
- Conduct safety meetings/tailgate meetings within contractor/client groups.
- Conduct atmospheric monitoring of all work areas and record results accordingly.
- Support in developing, implementing, and revisiting a site-specific EHS plan.
- Supports Job Safety Analysis and Site-Specific Rescue Plans for each job.
- Assist Operations with Health and Safety questions/concerns.
- Acts as a resource for Contractor employees.
- Evaluate safety/field results with EHSS Manager, Operations Manager, Maintenance Manager/ Contractor Manager and Contractor Supervision.
- Take personal ownership and responsibility for protecting people from harm, and developing strategies that drive performance and support continuous improvement.
Qualifications:
Required:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Minimum 1- 4 years’ industrial work experience.
- TWIC, ARSC Basic Safety.
Preferred:
- Valid state driver’s license.
- First-Aid/CPR, OSHA 10.
- CSST or equivalent certification.
