Environmental Specialist

Job Summary:
The Environmental Specialist is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing comprehensive Environmental, Health, and Safety programs to ensure regulatory compliance (OSHA, EPA, DOT) and promote a proactive safety culture. This role requires experience in RCRA, environmental waste, MPBS, DOT 49cfr, and water permitting. The Environmental Specialist may provide Environmental assistance as requested in support of organizational compliance and continuous improvement.

Duties & Essential Job Functions:
  • Assist with facility-wide Environmental and Safety initiatives, policy development and implementation, and training programs.
  • Provide Environmental compliance support, including waste management, reporting, and regulatory documentation.
  • Participate in routine audits, inspections, and assessments.
  • Provide guidance and support in ensuring compliance with applicable federal/state/local regulations.
  • Support regulatory reporting activities.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Analyze EHS performance metrics and recommend improvements.

Qualifications:
Required:
  • 5 years of progressive experience in Environmental roles
  • Knowledge of EPA, DOT 49cfr, and LDEQ principles
  • Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills
  • Ability to understand process
Preferred:
  • Bachelor's degree in occupational safety, Environmental Health or related field; or equivalent experience.
Physical & Environmental Requirements:
  • Work may involve exposure to noise, dust, heat, and heavy equipment areas
  • Must be able to wear required PPE in designated zones
  • Ability to stand, walk, climb, and occasionally lift materials as required
