Job Summary: The Environmental Technician supports the day‑to‑day activities of the Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) program. This role assists with basic compliance tasks, routine inspections, waste handling, and required documentation to help ensure the facility meets applicable OSHA, EPA, DOT, and state regulations. The technician will help with environmental waste management, RCRA requirements, basic MPBS tasks, DOT 49 CFR needs, and water‑related permitting activities under the direction of EHS leadership. Additional support may be provided as needed to maintain overall compliance and continuous improvement.
Duties & Essential Job Functions:
Assist with Environmental and Safety activities across the facility.
Help with waste management tasks, recordkeeping, and routine compliance documentation.
Participate in routine audits, inspections, and assessments.
Assist with basic regulatory reporting and data collection.
Support efforts to meet Federal, state, and local regulatory requirements.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement continuous improvement initiatives.
Analyze EHS performance metrics and recommend improvements.
Qualifications: Required:
2-5 years of progressive experience in Environmental roles
Knowledge of EPA, DOT 49cfr, and LDEQ principles
Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills
Ability to follow procedures and understand work processes
Preferred:
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Environmental, Safety, or related field; or equivalent experience
Physical & Environmental Requirements:
Work may involve exposure to noise, dust, heat, and areas with heavy equipment
Must be able to wear required PPE in designated zones
Ability to stand, walk, climb, and occasionally lift materials as required
